Do you believe that you are called to be a saint?

Are you aware that the Church needs us to be saints? Most of us don’t think that the call to be a saint is meant for us, but for others. However, in St. Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians we are reminded that “Christ loved the Church, and gave Himself up for her, to make her holy”. We, as Church, in our daily life, are gifted with holiness; graced by God. That call is for us to take small steps each day to be receptive to God at work in us and to live the grace we have received.

Each of the past two years we have had a spiritual theme for our parish that guided many of our celebrations. In 2015, we celebrated our 100th Anniversary and reflected on the many blessings of our parish. In 2016, Pope Francis guided us through a Jubilee Year of Mercy. In 2017, St. Patrick Parish will celebrate that we have been Called to be a Community of Saints.

This year will be filled with many opportunities for us to be nourished at the altar, to reflect upon and pray to those recognized by the Church as Saints, to be inspired by renowned speakers and praise God in song, and to walk with one another on our path to holiness. May we be living examples to the world of the gift of holiness in our parish community!
