In Baptism, Spiritual Life begins as a person is brought into communion with the church, and becomes one with Christ. Spiritual renewal in Baptism is available to all people, of all ages and walks of life; but once the sacrament takes place; the catechumenate is indelibly marked and forever baptized in Christ.
The role of Godparent at Baptism is more than merely ceremonial. Often times in the past, we could say that the Church had this or that requirement. However, the first question is not whether or not the Church will permit me to be a Godparent or Sponsor, but rather whether or not I can allow myself to be one! In other words, each of us must ask ourselves if our own integrity allows us to stand at the Altar and make a public profession that the faith we speak in word is also a faith in practice!
To become a Godparent, please download the parish Certificate of Eligibility and guidelines, and submit the completed form to the parish office.
Baptisms are typically held on the first and third Sunday of the month following the 12:00 PM mass. To arrange for a Baptism and sign up for the Baptism class, contact the Office of Religious Education at 610-296-8899.
